A good mascara is a staple in even the most basic beauty routines, but waterproof mascara has to be a real workhorse. Not only should it lift, curl, lengthen and separate lashes, but it needs to withstand smudging and running in any element.
To find the best waterproof mascaras that stay put, the Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab experts sorted through more than 74 tubes in our most recent tests to narrow down the top picks. We Lab-tested each formula's ability to resist smudging, smearing and running, and enlisted more than 130 consumer testers to try the products at home for real-life feedback on each mascara's wear, ease of use and waterproofness.
Based on GH Beauty Lab tests, found from tallying the results of 2,000 questions, these are the best waterproof mascaras.
