I have oily, combination skin — as evidenced by the oil slick between my eyebrows and on the corners of my nose that emerges over the course the day. Naturally, these unwanted grease spots have led me to search for the best foundation for oily skin that will keep my face set without constantly needing to blot throughout the day.

The solution? "Seek out liquid or powder formulas with key terms like 'for oily or acne-, breakout-prone skin,' or 'matte,’ 'shine-free' or 'velvet' finishes, which will balance greasy spots," advises Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab Director Sabina Wizemann. These kinds of formulas have the ability to absorb oils in the skin, helping to achieve a more matte finish.

I consulted Beauty Lab Pros, GH editors, consumer reviews and included some of my own preferences to round up the best products on the market right now.

"The finish on this foundation is simply beautiful," a GH staffer said. "I have oily/ combination skin and I found that it kept me from being too shiny without making my skin feel cakey or too dry."
