Ashima Makol, M.B.B.S., M.D.

Ashima Makol, M.B.B.S., M.D. is a rheumatologist and associate professor of medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic, where she chairs the Connective Tissue Disease Subspecialty Group and directs the Scleroderma/Raynaud and the Nailfold Videocapillaroscopy Clinic. She completed her Internal medicine residency at Michigan State and her rheumatology fellowship at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Makol has been awarded the Philip S. Hench award for excellence in Rheumatology Research and the Department of Medicine Laureate award. Dr. Makol’s research focuses on vascular and cardiac manifestations in systemic sclerosis, healthcare utilization in SSc, and various aspects of ILD in systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases. She is actively engaged in clinical trials for skin, lung, and vascular disease in Scleroderma. Outside of work, she is a foodie, enjoys cooking, traveling, dancing, watching Bollywood movies with her husband, and loves spending time with her two daughters.
